Growing Young Disciples day

We had a fabulous Growing Young Disciples (GYD) day on 12 November when eleven young people in school years 6 to 8 arrived at Histon Baptist Church for a day of fun, creativity, reflection and learning.

GYD aims to support what local churches are already doing by discipling young people as they follow Jesus. It’s not always easy for us to shine as lights for Jesus in the world today, but at the same time many young people are keen to think more about how they can express and live out their faith on their ‘frontlines’; with their friends, at school, in out-of-school clubs and in the community in general.

A key thread for the day was recognising that as disciples we all have a big L on our backs; we are all learning and that doesn’t stop no matter what age we are.

‘Emma really enjoyed the day on Saturday and was keen to tell me all about it! It is such a good idea to have something for the kids of this age group to get involved in something that’s not ‘normal’ church… Thank you for organising it and continuing to encourage the youngsters in their walk with Jesus.’
